How can we be Champions of Peace

How can we be Champions of Peace Blog Post

For the last four weeks of Term 3 we were learning about ‘How we can be Champions of Peace.

Firstly we learnt about the different symbols of peace. Some of these are the peace symbols dove, olive branch and koru.

These symbols represent peace because they represent new life and movement and energy.

With these symbols Artwork. My Peace Artwork represents peace because the shield is protecting the new life.

We also researched some real life champions of peace and wrote a short biography. I wrote about Jesus. I thought this person was a champion of peace because he saved everyone from dying.

We also created a peace prayer book.

I enjoyed learning about peace because peace holds the world together and makes it a really happy place.

I learnt that being a champion of peace isn’t just about being nice, it is about helping out.

One way I plan on being a champion of peace is by being really kind to my friends and family and always helping out.

How do you think you can become a champion of peace?

Making Predictions

Kia ora

This week for reading we were learning about predictions. For me it was really fun because I love making predictions because it’s exciting because something good might happen next. If you really want to get a good prediction sometimes you need to think the unimaginable. The goal was to make predictions and confirm predictions. To confirm predictions look and read the text really well. You also need to look for clues.

Have you ever made a prediction in your daily life?

Stand Up For Your Rights

Today for reading we learnt about lots of different protests we learnt about the teacher’s protest racism and the Springboks tour. I chose a poster about racism. I made a sign that I would bring a protest. The goal is to make connections between texts, using more sophisticated texts. I am making connections between texts because I am writing about standing together not apart they were standing up to what they believe in.

Have you gone to a protest?

Reading

Hi this week for reading we are making predictions. I read a text called reckless it was about a group of people swimming in the sea and they spotted some SHARKS!!!!

Would you go swimming with sharks?

Science

Today for science we made a Circuit with playdoh. the playdoh was an energy circuit the electricity traveled through the playdoh and went into the lights.

One of the experiments we did was: Squishy Circuits

Materials needed :

. clay

. wires

. battery

My Hypothesis: Before conducting my experiment I thought that it would not work because the clay had little cracks in the clay so the energy would not travel through the clay.

What I discovered: After finishing my experiment I found out that my hypothesis was correct because the light was flickering. The circuit was not very strong but still managed to light up.

Something I found interesting during this learning was finally being successful and finishing the project. Something I found challenging was putting the playdoh together

If you did this experiment what would you do?

Midwinter Breakfast

This week for maths we had to create a DLO about our midwinter breakfast coming up. We had to spin a wheel 45 times and see what we got the most of. And then we put the information on 2 graphs. We also had to turn the fraction into percentages. the most thing i got on the menu was sausage sizzle. i really enjoyed doing this create Task.

What would you pick for your breakfast?

Poridge Pot Poster

This week for reading we have to create a poster for a play that’s coming up. The play is called the porridge pot this is my poster that I created. We had to include the date and some information about the play. The porridge pot is a play our school has been working on for the past term.

What have you learnt from my poster?

Diaper House

Last week for reading we looked at whether texts were authentic or not. I created a google drawing about my thoughts and ideas on dirty diapers being used in concrete houses. The text was really good and I liked how they explained how they would use the diapers in the concrete. Personally I would rather have a house that didn’t use dirty diapers in the concrete because that’s a bit yuck and I think a normal concrete house would be more sturdy. I hope you enjoy it.

Would you buy a house that had used diapers in the concrete?

Word Art

Kia ora everyone This week for prayers we created a word art and i created this one you have to put some things you are grateful and happy for. There are reasons I picked some of the words like I picked a friend beacuse I am grateful for all my friends and I picked my family because I am grateful for my family beacuse they provide lots for me. I created this monkey word art I hope you enjoy it.

What would you put on your word art?
